TELL US YOUR STORY…
Who got you into fishing and how long have you been fishing?
My Grandfather and Father got me into fishing. My Grandfather made me watch him build my first rod before I was allowed to fish, which was pretty boring for a 5-year-old at the time, but incredibly cool in hindsight. Additionally, they both made me practice casting for days once the rod was built before I was allowed to head out in the boat with them to fish.
Where is your 4th favorite place to fish? (we definitely know you’re not giving up your top 3)
My 4th favorite place to fish would be the South Fork of the Snake. Not too many places in the world have the big water rowing and the bank structure like the South Fork of the Snake, it is an arcade game of casting. When the fish move into the riffles, it is not too shabby as well.
If you could take any one person fishing, who would it be?
My Grandfather, I can see the smile on his face now if he knew some of the places that I have been fishing. I was fortunate enough to have some of the best trout fishing of my life with my father before he passed away.
What haven’t you accomplished that you still aspire to do in your lifetime?
The Grand Canyon with my family when my kids get old enough.
What would be your day job if you weren’t currently doing what you’re doing?

Who got you into fishing and how long have you been fishing?
My dad and my grandfather introduced me to fishing. I remember that I really could never get enough of it, ever. Most importantly, I was fortunate to grow up in a family that enjoyed being outside. I truly grasped fly fishing as a young teenager. Growing up in Middle Tennessee allowed me plenty of time, places, and species to target to begin building a solid fly-fishing skill set and passion. Following my fly fishing obsession and passion, I moved West in 2005 and call Teton Valley, Idaho home.
Where is your 4th favorite place to fish? (we definitely know you’re not giving up your top 3)
Soda Lake, Wyoming. Early mornings are spent sight casting to big Snake River Cutthroats looking for Damselflies and Terrestrials. Afternoons are spent working edges with sinking lines as fish feed and cruise depth changes and weed beds. Coupled with some awesome camping spots in the middle of the Gros Ventre Wilderness where the Milky Way is visible, Soda Lake is defiantly #4!
If you could take any one person fishing, who would it be?
Easy, I would take every opportunity available to take my dad fishing. If that person had to be someone that I have never fished with, I would choose to take Theodore Roosevelt fishing in Yellowstone National Park. It would be amazing to show him that conversation still exists today and that we enjoy all the wonderful natural resources, parks, forests and monuments that he protected and created.
What haven’t you accomplished that you still aspire to do in your lifetime?
Wow, there are so many! Harvest a big bull elk with my bow, catch a Giant Trevally in the Indian Ocean, or catch a fish on a fly on every continent (minus Antarctica). Most importantly, my most significant accomplishment and goal would be when I’m old and gray (well, I’m already gray) I would like to reflect and know that I protected and left the natural resources and places that I love better than I found them.
What would be your day job if you weren’t currently doing what you’re doing?
“There are a lot of options out there when looking for a new boat. There are a lot of considerations to make when you’re going to be working out of it every day. Adipose has made those considerations too and has covered all the bases. From the first phone call I made to Adipose, I was impressed. Not only did Marcy and Justin promptly return phone calls and e-mails quickly, but my boat was ready precisely on the estimated date.”

Who got you into fishing and how long have you been fishing?
I started fishing when I was 5 years old. My mom married my stepdad, and he dragged me along on every weekend fishing trip. Steelhead on the Salmon River, bass on Lake Lowell, trout on the Boise River, kokanee on Anderson Ranch Reservoir. I started fly fishing when I was 9. A friend of my stepdad’s gave me a Cortland 5/6 weight out of his garage, and it was all over from there. I learned to cast on my own, and with the curiosity of a 10-year old, learned the bugs and flies too.
Where is your 4th favorite place to fish? (we definitely know you’re not giving up your top 3)
The lower Teton River. It’s fly fishing like it was when I was growing up. Big fish on big terrestrials in little water.
If you could take any one person fishing, who would it be?
If I could take one person fishing it would be Lil Wayne. In fact, it has been a dream of mine to fish with Weezy since 2008.
What haven’t you accomplished that you still aspire to do in your lifetime?
I’ve never caught a bonefish, and for whatever reason, that’s something I’ve aspired to do since reading about flats fishing when I was a kid. Growing up I devoured any reading I could find about fishing, and The Old Man and the Sea sparked my curiosity about fishing in Cuba. Tumbling deeper down the rabbit hole of Cuban fishing literature, I read about the untouched and remarkable flats fishing to be had there. Ever since then, the flats have been a dream I hope to live out before I die.
