Nate Sipple: Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company

“The Flow Skiff is the smartest boat I’ve rowed, hands-down. Whether I’m fishing or guiding, the layout is smart, it handles like a charm and the trailer makes loading and unloading so easy. I’m constantly complimented by my clients on my boat and how comfortable it is to fish out of… far more than when I’ve rowed and guided out of other boats.  The team at Adipose made sure to get me in the boat that best suited my waters and for that, I’m Addy-loyal for life!”

TELL US YOUR STORY…

Who got you into fishing and how long have you been fishing?

I’ve been fishing since I was a kid, and fly fishing since I was about 10-years old.  It was really a combination of curiosity and a lack of options.  When you grow up in the middle of nowhere, you’re drawn to the outdoors out of curiosity, instinct and wonder.  I didn’t have ten neighborhood kids asking me to play video games or watch movies, so the outdoors became my place to play.  Creek chubs on a small stream started it for me.

Where is your 4th favorite place to fish? (we definitely know you’re not giving up your top 3)

My 4th favorite place to fish would have to be the flats of Door County, WI for smallmouth and carp.  The water is so clear and it’s amazing to be able to see how fish act (and react) to flies, fly movement, etc.  People know about it, but I rarely see people fishing it.  It’s an expansive body of water, but really easy to read and fish.

If you could take any one person fishing, who would it be?

Hmm… If I could take one person fishing… I’m going to exclude my son, dad, brother and wife because I can (and do) get to take them fishing.  So, making this a hypothetical and fun question, I’d have to say it’d be between Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Daniel-Day Lewis, Hemmingway or Teddy Roosevelt.  Lots of reasons…

What haven’t you accomplished that you still aspire to do in your lifetime?

There’s a lot I’d like to accomplish/do in my life, but the one that means the most to me is to teach my kids the value and meaning of our natural resources.  Teach them that they’re not expendable, limitless or worth any dollar amount.  Kids need to be taught these values at a young age so that when they grow and mature, these values will carry on and be protected.  It’s our duty, our job to pass this legacy.

What would be your day job if you weren’t currently doing what you’re doing?

If I wasn’t guiding, I think I’d be drawn to marketing or owning a small business.  Maybe both.
